Crochet Beginners Workshop
This workshop is suitable for anyone who would like to learn the art of crochet. This includes complete beginners who have never tried it before, those who may have tried crochet in the past and anyone wanting to refresh crochet skills they learnt years ago.
You will learn how to hold the hook and yarn in the way that suits you, make a foundation chain, the basic crochet stitches and start to learn how to follow written instructions. We will also discuss different types of yarn and hooks for a variety of projects, and I will share useful tips, tools and techniques I have found worthwhile over the many years I have been crocheting and teaching.
If you have your own materials to bring, a 4mm hook and DK yarn is recommended, but hooks and yarn will be available to borrow on the day, or you can add a beginner’s kit to your booking. The kit contains a premium hook and a selection of yarns to use in the class and take home to practice with, as well as printed instructions to follow and add your own notes to during the workshop. The cost of the kit is £6, and it can be pre-booked or there will be some available to purchase on the day.
October 19th 10am-1pm
Crochet Improvers Workshop
This workshop is a follow on to the Beginners or for anyone who can already crochet and wants to improve their skills or learn a little bit more. We will cover combining the basic stitches to create other designs, changing colours, begin to read patterns and work on the things that the group have found challenging since starting to crochet.
November 2nd 10am-1pm
Granny Squares Workshop
In this workshop we will be looking at ways to perfect the classic granny square. We will look at other square designs, how to turn a circle motif into a square, blocking and joining methods to use your squares in scarfs, blankets etc.
The workshops are small groups to ensure everyone gets plenty of individual attention. Younger learners welcome - under 16s accompanied by a participating adult please. Cost is £20 per class. Tea and coffee provided, plus there is an onsite cafe should you wish to enjoy breakfast before your workshop or follow it with lunch.
To book, message via Facebook or Instagram, call/text 07774 480780 or email hello@amarimakes.com. Payment via invoice prior to class confirms your place. Please don’t hesitate to use one of the contact methods above for any questions about these or future crochet workshops.
