About
Unique Cottage Studios is a vibrant arts and crafts centre located in beautifully converted farm buildings just outside Spalding. Our welcoming space brings together a diverse community of artists and craftspeople, offering visitors the opportunity to experience a wide range of creative work all in one place.
We offer a rich programme of workshops and courses led by our resident artists, alongside additional classes run by our associate artists—providing a wide variety of creative opportunities to suit all interests and skill levels.
Our site is largely accessible for visitors with disabilities, with designated parking and accessible toilet facilities available.
Please note that not all studios are open to the public every day. Many of our artists travel to teach or participate in art fairs and exhibitions. To arrange a studio visit, we recommend contacting the artists directly—contact details can be found on the Artist’s pages.

Our Founder
Carolyn Goodwin founded Unique Cottage Studios as a space to support local artists and craftspeople, inviting the community to share in her passion for art. Her legacy lives on through the vibrant creative spirit she helped cultivate.
History
The buildings that now house Unique Cottage Studios have a rich and varied past, with a long-standing connection to agriculture and horticulture. Over the years, these characterful spaces have served many purposes—most notably as shelters for livestock including sheep, cattle, and even the occasional pig.
Today, the central courtyard offers a peaceful and inviting setting, though the agricultural link lives on—sheep are still kept in the adjacent barn and surrounding fields, preserving a sense of the site’s rural heritage.
Our first major renovation phase was completed in 2007, marking the beginning of a new chapter. Since then, we’ve been thrilled by the ongoing development and the positive response from visitors and resident artists alike, all drawn to the site’s calm, creative atmosphere.
The most recent addition has been the rebuilding of the original cottage, which now serves as home to our café, gallery, and additional studio spaces—a welcoming hub at the heart of our artistic community.
